Clare IFA Chair Says More Supports Needed For More Sustainable Sector

Clare’s IFA Chair says farmers here need more government support to enable them to transition to a more sustainable agricultural sector.

It comes after the Climate Action Bill was launched earlier this week, which pledges to cut the country’s emissions by 51 per cent over the next 10 years.

There are fears that the legislation could lead to a cut in the size of the national herd – as previously mooted by Environment Minister Eamon Ryan – unless alternatives are found.
