Clare Homelessness Levels May Worsen Without Urgent Action

Midwest Simon expects the level of homelessness in Clare to worsen over the coming months, unless urgent action is taken by the Government.

New figures from the Department of Housing show there were 43 homeless adults in Clare in May, the highest number in recent years, while child homelessness across the midwest has also risen dramtically in the space of a month.

The Housing Minister, Eoghan Murphy is said to be considering the return of bedsits in an effort to solve the housing crisis along with other moves such as doubling the tax on vacant properties in rent pressure zones.
