The founder of Clare Haven has been honoured with a prestigious national award.

Mary Fitzgerald established the organisation, which provides services for victims of domestic violence, 25 years ago, having begun volunteering for various causes ten years prior to that.

The Ballymacahill native has been awarded the 2018 Community Hero Award at the The Wheel’s Charity Impact Awards, a lifetime achievement award honouring those who’ve made a contribution to good causes over the course of their life.
