Clare GP Calls For Government Intervention To Stop Doctor Emigration

A North Clare GP claims the government needs to provide certainty in their profession to stop young Irish doctors emigrating.

Dr Liam Glynn’s comments come amid call from the National Association of General Practitioners for FEMPI cuts introduced in the recession to be reversed.

They say they lost 38 percent of funding in the public service cuts and because of this there is no incentive for newly qualified family doctors to stay in the country.

Ballyvaughan-based Dr Glynn is the NAGP’s Chair of Communications, and you can hear his interview with Morning Focus, here.
