A Clare Government TD has dismissed concerns over a proposal to introduce a review mechanism for the Brexit backstop.
Yesterday the Taoiseach said he would be willing to consider proposals for a review clause in relation to the Irish border safety net, but he said the UK can’t have the option to cancel the “no hard border” guarantee of its own accord.
The Sinn Féin leader, Mary Lou McDonald has described the move as “reckless”, saying Leo Varadkar shouldn’t lose his nerve when it comes to Brexit negotiations.
