Clare Gardaí Warn Of Recent Phone And Text Scams

Gardaí in Clare are warning people not to share their personal information with callers or people who make contact by text, following a number of scams.

On Friday, a woman was contacted by a man claiming to be from Eircom who infomred her that her router had been hacked by a criminal gang in the US, and asked her for her bank details and passwords, which she provided.

While on Thursday, a woman who logged into a Facebook page offering flights was subsequently contacted by a person on a UK phone number who she provided with her Revolut details, but since discovered the page was fake.

Gardaí have also been made aware of people receiving fradulent texts and phone calls from someone purporting to be from the Department of Social Protection, asking for PPS and bank account details.
