Clare Former Handball Chief Passes Away Following Accident Abroad

A Clare former President of the GAA Handball has died following an accident abroad. 

79-year-old Michael Boyce of Tuamgraney passed away on Thursday following a fall in Spain last weekend.

Michael was the first Clareman to be elected as Handball President and served during the period 1975 to 1978. 

During that time he was responsible for introducing the open draw in the Senior 60 x 30 Softball Championship and was instrumental in the roofing of the 60 x 30 court and construction of the 40 x 20 court in Tuamgraney.

He is survived by his wife Alicia, sons Thomas and Ciaran, daughter Mary and brother Basil.
