Clare County Fire Service is urging people to be vigilant when out enjoying the hot weather today.

It comes as three separate gorse fires broke out in the county last evening.

The first was reported in the Muingacarreen area of Flagmount at around 6pm yesterday, with three units attending that, before they were called to a larger fire near Mountshannon, which they spent the night extinguishing.

Separately, units from Ennistymon attended a callout to a gorse fire at Monreel.

A nationwide orange fire warning remains in place until tomorrow, with today being the peak risk, and anyone who spots smoke is urged to report it to the fire services.
