Clare’s Chief Fire Officer is downplaying concerns over the future of fire fighting services in this county.

22 fire fighters have left the service in the past three years, including some high-ranking officers, and concern has been expressed that more will follow suit due to pay and procedural issues.

There are currently 68 fire fighters in Clare and applications are being sought to bring this number up to the required 75.
