Clare Falling Well Behind In Numbers Of Female Elected Representatives

Clare is lagging behind when it comes to female representation in politics.

The CSO has published new statistics showing that 78.6% of Councillors are men, a slightly higher percentage than in the Dáil.

However, Clare does not come close to approaching this level in terms of the number of elected female politicians.

Of the 33 elected Councillors and Oireachtas representatives here, only 3 are female.
