Clare appears to have escaped the worst of the damage so far during Storm Callum.

The strongest gust recorded overnight at Shannon Airport was 89 kilometres per hour, but early morning flights there are largely operating on time.

There was only one flight disruption overnight, which resulted in Ryanair FR 1349 from Fuerteventura diverting to Dublin and passengers were transferred by road to Shannon.

This has resulted in Ryanair flight FR102 from Shannon to Stansted being delayed with current departure time expected at 10:50am.

A Status Orange Weather alert remains in place in Clare while the storm moves northwards, with strong winds expected to persist until lunchtime at least.

Forecaster with Met Eireann Matthew Martin anticipates that conditions will still be poor throughout the rush hour period this morning.

The adverse weather overnight has resulted in debris and spot flooding on some roads, and drivers are being urged to slow down and take extreme care.

Chris Jones from AA Roadwatch has this advice.
