Crime levels across Clare have largely fallen in the first three months of 2011.

New garda statistics reveal a drop in most types of criminal activity including burglaries, instances of criminal damage and drugs offences compared to the same period last year.

17 sexual offences were recorded from January through to March, though this does represent a fall of almost 20% on the same period last year but there were hikes in the number of assaults causing harm and certain types of theft including of scrap metals such as copper and home heating oil.
