Clare’s County Dog Warden has said staff at the dog shelter in Ennis are only trying to help the animals there.
It follows concern raised locally in recent weeks about animal welfare at the facility.
The issue was also discussed by Clare County Councillors last evening, where the local authority said regular inspections are being carried out there, and that no animal welfare issues have been raised.
