Clare County Council has announced that bathing restrictions at Lahinch Beach have been lifted.
A ‘Do Not Swim’ notice has been in place since Wednesday, after routine testing found elevated levels of bacteria in the water.
The Council says this was caused by excessive rainfall in recent weeks, and the resultant runoff from land via the Inagh River into Liscannor Bay.
Restrictions have today been lifted, on advice of the HSE, after further water testing indicated a significant improvement in water quality.
Lifeguards are on duty while the Blue Flag is once again flying at the beach.
