Hopes That Lahinch Swim Ban Can Be Lifted In Coming Days

Clare County Council has expressed hope that a swimming ban in Lahinch can be lifted within the coming days.

The ban was implemented yesterday, on the advice of the HSE yesterday, after heavy rainfall and runoff from the surrounding land led to high levels of bacteria in the sea water.

If follows a bathing advisory notice last week, which was issued for a similar reason.

Senior Engineer with Clare County Council, Cyril Feeney has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that while there are positive signs so far, the weather over the coming days will dictate when the ban can be lifted.
