Councillors Back Call For Childcare Reform

Calls are being made for a major overhaul of Ireland’s childcare model to be carried out, to ensure fairness and affordability for parents and for staff.

A motion has been put before Clare County Council, which received strong support, calling for funding to be put in place to stabilise wages in the sector and for that childcare is affordable and accessible to all.

This comes as the acting Children’s Minister Katherine Zappone has confirmed that a public consultation on the future of the sector will be carried out, to allow childcare providers have their say on the important issues.
