Councillor Calls For Stricter Hedge Cutting After Branch Shatters Truck Window

An East Clare councillor, whose truck window was shattered by a low-hanging tree branch, says it’s time to take hedge cutting more seriously.

Fianna Fáil’s Alan O’Callaghan says the issue is particularly prominent on rural country roads in the county, where his own incident occurred in recent days.

Clare County Council says hedge cutting is bound by laws which state that the practice is banned from March 1st to August 31st annually, to facilitate growth for wildlife.
