Council Spent €215,000 On Tackling Illegal Dumping Last Year

Clare County Council spent around €215,000 last year on tackling illegal dumping.

Figures revealed by the local authority reveal that an estimated €175,000 was spent on dealing with illegally dumped household waste, with a further €40,000 provided by the government spent on clean-ups and deterring dumpers.

In a response to Kilkee Fianna Fáil Councillor Cillian Murphy, the county council has also admitted that the issue of dumping continues to pose a serious concern for them and the true cost is difficult to quantify.
