Clare County Council’s CEO is warning that the local authority’s ability to maintain the county’s roads will be dependent on funding from central government.

The Council’s 2021 Budget plans to largely maintain its levels of roads investments next year, although there is a planned 14% fall in spending on the general maintenance of regional roads.

The local authority also expects to receive a similar allocation from government to carry out works on the county’s largest roads, but that won’t be confirmed by government until the New Year.
