Council Holds Special Meeting On Jobs

Clare’s elected representatives have sent out what’s been described as a “show of unity and strength” in response to recent jobs blows here.

A special meeting was held at Clare County Council Headquarters last evening, in response to the issues that have arisen at Molex, Avara, Roche and Moneypoint.

It was attended by Councillors, and Clare’s five Oireachtas members, but not by the Enterprise Ireland or the IDA even though they had been invited – the meeting heard that the latter did send apologies.

While there was no resolution or agreed action arising out of the meeting, Council Director of Service for Economic Development Liam Conneally feels it still sent an important message.
