Council Helpline Geared Towards Most Vulnerable In Society

Clare County Council says it’s new community support helpline is geared towards helping the most vulnerable in society.

The service will support at-risk members of the public in accessing non-emergency and non-medical supports and advice, during the current public health emergency.

The confidential phoneline service has been established by the new COVID-19 Clare Community Support Response Forum, which includes over a dozen agencies and organisations.

A local authority employee will link those in need of the service with a local volunteer, who may already be known to them and Director of Rural Development Leonard Cleary explains how they can help.

The Mayor of Clare has commended the local authority for launching this service.

Fianna Fáil Councillor Clare Colleran Molloy says great credit should be given to the local authority for redeploying staff where they’re most needed.

People can contact the helpline on 1890 25 29 43 seven-days-a-week between 8am and 8pm and are advised to try and plan two to three days in advance.
