Council “Can Expect Surprises” From Councillors If Rural Funding Is Not Upped

A West Clare Councillor is warning the local authority to “expect surprises” from rural councillors, if the level of funding for their areas isn’t increased.

Lissycasey Fianna Fáil Councillor PJ Kelly is calling for Clare County Council to increase the General Municipal Allowance for the West Clare MD next year, to make up for a drop in its allocation last time out.

The local authority says budgets will be considered by elected representatives in the coming months, adding that allocations are based on their total coffers.
