Ennis-area Fianna Fáil Councillor Clare Colleran Molloy has been unanimously elected as the new Mayor of Clare.
Just the third ever woman to take up the role, she replaces the newly elected TD, Deputy Cathal Crowe, and will serve four the next four and a half months, when this council year comes to an end.
Her party mate, Sixmilebridge Councillor Alan O’Callaghan, was elected as Leas Cathaoirleach and will serve as her deputy for the remainder of the mayoral term.
