Almost €300,000 To Be Paid In Retirement Funds To Former Clare Councillors

Almost €300,000 in retirement gratuities is to be paid to six former councillors in Clare who bowed out of local politics after this year’s election.

Figures released under a Freedom of Information request show that a total of €297,544.75 has been, or will be, granted to them

Of the six, Christy Curtin, Richard Nagle, Tom McNamara, Michael Hillery and former TD James Breen all retired; while Fine Gael’s Bill Slattery ran in the election but lost his seat.
