Clare County Council Holding Meeting To Discuss Garda Amalgamation Fears

The Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council insists that clarity on the future of policing in Clare is vital.

A special meeting of the local authority has been called for this afternoon to discuss the matter, as rumours surrounding an amalgamation of the Clare and Galway garda divisions continue to brew.

Speaking earlier this month, the Garda Commissioner refused to rule out such a move, but did say a new Chief Superintendent would be appointed soon for Clare.
