Clare Councillor Expresses Fears Over Plastics In Irish Waters

Fear is being expressed in Clare that within the next 20 years, there will be more plastic than fish in Irish waters.

Sixmilebridge Councillor John Crowe is calling on the Environment Minister to tackle what he’s labelled a ticking time bomb before it’s too late.

A recent study by NUI Galway found that almost three quarters of the deep water fish living in the North West of the Atlantic here had ingested micro-plastics – one of the highest recordings worldwide.
