A South-East Clare Councillor has hit out at what he’s described as a “despicable” case of dumping in the Meelick – Cratloe area.

Around a dozen mattresses were dumped on land beside the Irish Aviation Authority’s radar stations at Woodcock hill, known locally as the ‘Golf Ball’, over the bank holiday weekend.

Meelick Councillor Cathal Crowe believes that a number of people would have been required to haul the load into the area which is popular with walkers, joggers and cyclists.
