Clare Council Refutes Claims On Traveller Accommodation

Clare County Council has refuted claims that it’s not spending money on the provision of traveller accommodation here.

The Irish Times claimed that Clare County Council failed to spend any of the 237,000 euro allocated to it for Traveller housing since 2015.

However, the Council has insisted that 37,000 euro was spent on an upgrade of sewage facilities at Deerpark, Ennistymon.

The remaining 200 thousand for the construction of a group housing scheme at Ballaghboy, Ennis was not taken up in 2016 due to a delay in appointing design consultants but it’s hoped that construction will begin in October.
