Clare Council lodge complaint after trade union official comments

Clare Councillors claim comments made by a trade union representative during the recent public debate on retaining A&E services at Ennis General were disturbing and derogatory.

In a letter to the Clare branch of Impact the Mayor of Clare outlined the concerns of local representatives after they were addressed as "those lot over there" by a union official at the meeting in the West County last week.

In a letter to the Clare branch of Impact the Mayor of Clare outlined the concerns of local representatives after they were addressed as "those lot over there" by a union official at the meeting in the West County last week.

However a spokesperson for the union said it’s their policy that elected representatives are treated with due respect, dignity and professionalism at all times.

Welcoming the response Mayor Madeline Taylor Quinn denies it will cause a rift in the campaign to retain full emergency services at Ennis General.
