As the weather heats up this weekend, people hoping to take a dip are being urged to act responsibly in and around the county’s waterways.
Ahead of National Water Week, swimmers are being reminded to only swim in lifeguarded areas and to stay within their depths, and never to enter the water after consuming alcohol.
123 people drowned in Ireland last year, none of which were in Clare, while lifeguards here made 90 rescues.
