Clare Abuse Victim To Meet Justice Minister On Sentencing

A Clare woman who was sexually abused for a decade is calling for life sentences to be handed out to rapists.

Shaneda Daly waived her right to anonymity after her father Harry, of Lisseycasey, pleaded guilty to 227 charges including rape, sexual assault and indecent assault.

He’s due to be released from prison this year after serving seven-and-a-half years of a 15 year sentence, that had the final five suspended.

Shaneda has since set up the group Survivors Side by Side and is lobbying for harsher sentencing of abusers – and she has this message for Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan:
