Claims That Proposed Speed Changes In Clare Don’t Go Far Enough

It’s claimed proposed changes to speed limits in Clare don’t go far enough.

Clare County Council has been carrying out a review of limits in certain parts of the county over the past two years and among the proposals is the standardisation of speeds on all slip roads on and off the M18 motorway.

The local authority is also looking at an increase in the limit on the R458 near Bealaha, while a stretch of the N85 Ennis-Ennistymon Road near Whelan’s Quarry would be reduced to 60 kilometers per hour.

The changes will be put before Clare Councillors in April, who will vote to pass or reject the new limits, but Fine Gael Councillor Johnny Flynn believes more changes are needed:
