The Clare Leader Forum say people with disabilities in this county are being left ‘trapped’ by being unable to access funding supports for adapting their vehicles.

The issuing of primary medical certificates for disabled drivers and passengers has been suspended due to a court decision in June.

The scheme provides tax reliefs linked to buying and using specially constructed or adapted vehicles by people with disabilities, but is now effectively closed off to new entrants..

Clare disability rights activist and Forum member Ann Marie Flanagan says the issue is causing huge uncertainty for people in need.
