A call has been made for the HSE to be by-passed amid ongoing frustration over the health service’s failure to address problems with the hospital system in the midwest.

Ennis Councillor Pat Daly believes it’s time to make better use of Ennis General Hospital and re-open the A&E as a full-time facility, as part of efforts to deal with the worsening trolley crisis in Limerick.

Clare County Council is to write to Health Minister Simon Harris to urge him to visit Ennis and witness the facilities there first-hand, in the hope that it will result in progress on the matter.
