CIF Midwest Chair Says Extended Lockdown Would Further Worsen Housing Supply

The Chairperson of the Construction Industry Federation’s Midwest Branch believes a prolonged shutdown of the sector will have further adverse effects on housing supply in this county.

The Federation claims nearly 10,000 houses will not be built if restrictions on the sector aren’t lifted by the 5th of April, and that the number of homes built will drop by 800 for each further week of lockdown..

Average property prices are continuing to rise in Clare, with the average price of a home here now more than €160,000, while waiting lists for social housing here are also lengthening.
