Cancer Beds “Taken Over” By Overcrowded A&E Admissions – Harty

Clare’s Independent TD is expressing concern that beds for cancer patients in our hospitals are being taken away to deal with overcrowding in A&E departments.

Dr Michael Harty’s comments come as it has emerged that under funding of the National Cancer Strategy has meant it’s missed almost all of its targets for 2018.

Cancer charities have branded it as “truly shocking”, while the HSE says it will not be able to meet the demand on existing services with the funding provided this year.
