Calls For UHL To Be Prioritised For Bed Capacity Before The Winter

Clare’s Independent TD is urging health officials to prioritise University Hospital Limerick for increased modular and inpatient beds ahead of the upcoming winter season.

Dr Michael Harty was among three MidWest TDs to address the Dáil, over persistently high levels of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital.

A proposal put forward by the UL Hospitals Group for a modular unit providing an additional 60 beds is being considered by the HSE and Minister of State at the Department of Health, Cathering Byrne says a decision is due before the winter.
