Calls For Irish Water To Fast Track Ballycannon Heights Works

There are calls for Irish Water to fast track its works in addressing persistent sewage issues in Ballycannon Heights in Meelick.

The utility has progressed a solution to the design stage, with work due to begin early next year, however, the work is not set to be completed until 2023.

There have been persistent issues with the treatment plant at the back of the development since it was built in the 1980’s.

Irish Water and Clare County Council say they continue to monitor the plant, with regular desludging being carried out regularly as needed.

Clare Fianna Fail TD Cathal Crowe believes the area now needs to be connected to Limerick’s pipe network nearby.
