Calls For HSE Investigation Into Prescription Of Anti-Depressants

A Clare Consultant Psychiatrist believes there’s a need for the HSE to carry out an investigation into the prescription of anti-depressants to patients in this country.

It comes as the Joint Committee on the Future of Mental Health Care has been hearing from the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, who have voiced concern about over-prescription of anti-depressants.

The IACP insists that talking therapies, like counselling, should be prioritised.
