Calls For Government To Ensure Moneypoint At Forefront Of Balanced Regional Development

There are calls for the government to ensure that the potential of Moneypoint power station is maximised in order to keep Clare and the Mid-West at the forefront of balanced regional development across Ireland.

News that the West Clare facility has lost out on its primary source of income from October 2024 onwards has been described as “very serious” and a “massive blow”.

The ESB says the failure of Moneypoint to prequalify for a vital annual electricity supply auction presents what it’s called “further viability challenges” there.
