Calls For More Garda Resources To Tackle Mobile Phone Use While Driving

Clare’s Road Safety Officer insists that more Garda resources are needed to tackle the scourge of mobile phone use while driving.

Barry Keating is commenting in light of new figures, which show that just over a third of people listed to appear in court over holding their phones while driving are being convicted.

The analysis of figures from the period between January 2015 and March of this year, show that another third of the 12 thousand cases examined couldn’t go ahead because summonses hadn’t been served.
