Calls For Return Of Iconic Ballyvaughan Sign

A North Clare Senator has criticised a decision to remove advertising signs from an iconic signpost in Ballyvaughan, and is calling for them to be returned.

The sign-post in question has previously advertised almost 20 local businesses, landmarks and roadways and has become an international icon used on postcards and in ads

However, many of the signs attached to the pole have now been removed in line with national policy on signage.

The NRA is responsible for laws regarding roadsigns, but has told Clare FM they are applied and enforced here by Clare County Council – however, the local authority insists it has not taken away the signs.
