Calls For Increased Tourism Investment In Clare

The Chair of Loop Head tourism insists that increased investment in coastal and rural communities will lead to a boost in our tourism product.

It comes as the Irish Hotels Federation has published its Tourism Policy Documented, which the organisation says could lead to the creation of over 7,000 jobs in the county.

But Cillian Murphy believes that the provision of basic services in dying communities first would provide a far more attractive tourism product.

The Irish Hotels Federation insists that measures contained in its four point plan could result in the creation of thousands of jobs in Clare's tourism sector.

Proposals in the Tourism Policy Document include keeping running costs low for businesses, restoring marketing funding to 2008 levels, the allocation of extra money for infrastructure and investment in skills and training. 

The organisation's Former President is calling for a special fund to be set up to assist small businesses in the sector.
