Calls For Efforts To Attract Major Industry To Ennis

A former Mayor of Clare insists its high time that efforts were made to attract major industry into Ennis.

Independent Councillor James Breen is commenting as new figures show an extra 100 people joined the county’s dole queues last month, 46 of those in the Ennis area alone.

There are now 6,810 people claiming some form of unemployment benefit in the county, an increase of 99 on the figure at the end of January and the highest number seen here since last August.
