Calls For ‘Cash For Cans’ Scheme To Be Trialled In Clare

Clare’s Green Party Senator has suggested that Ennis or Ennistymon could be used to trial a new Deposit and Return Scheme.

The scheme, which is modelled on similar programs in the likes of Germany, will see refunds given to those who return their used plastic bottles and aliminium cans.

Green Party leader, Minister Eamon Ryan, has told the Seanad that he expects it to be introduced in the third quarter of next year.
