Call For Urgent Works At Dangerous 20ft Drop In West Clare

A community group in West Clare is calling for the immediate restoration of two vital water structures that were swept away during stormy conditions.

A culvert on Annageeragh River in Clohaninchy there was demolished in storms over a decade ago and has meant the once thriving salmon population has been unable to swim upstream and this has affected local fisheries.

Separately, less than half a kilometre away, the road leading down to the beach at Clohaninchy Lower was destroyed in the 2014 storms leaving a dangerous 20ft drop.

Neither has been replaced and Michael Neenan, who’s Chairman of the Clohaninchy Action Group, insists something must be done urgently:
