Call For Urgent Meeting To Discuss Clare Chief Superintendent Controversy

An Ennis-area councillor is calling on the local authority and the county’s Oireachtas members to hold an urgent meeting to discuss the Garda Chief Superintendent controversy.

Rumours are rife that the Clare Garda Division will be amalgamated with Galway, with the Garda Commissioner refusing to rule out such a move before an Oireachtas Committee this week.

A new Chief Superintendent is set to be appointed for Clare soon, with that office vacant since the retirement of John Kerin on January 1st.
