Burren And Cliffs Of Moher Retain UNESCO Global Geopark Status

The Burren and the Cliffs of Moher have retained their prestigious UNESCO Global Geopark status for another four years.

The two world-renowned sites first achieved the much sought-after title in 2011, which must be re-validated every four years.

It’s estimated that 1,500 jobs in the Geopark region are directly dependent on tourism and the sustainability of employment in other sectors is directly related to it.

The news means the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher will retain their spot on the UNESCO list until at least 2023.
