Pat Breen and Joe Carey will represent Fine Gael at the next General Election.
As had been widely anticipated, the two sitting TDs emerged from tonight’s selection convention at the Auburn Lodge Hotel in Ennis.
Senator Martin Conway had also been nominated, but stood aside so as not to force a vote for the two seats which were to be filled, as per a direction of the National Executive.

However, the Ennistymon Senator made it clear that he wants to be added to the ticket at a later date, arguing that this maximised the chances of Fine Gael retaining two seats.
