One car left the road at Caherea, shortly after 8.30 this morning.
Units from Clare County Fire Service, Ambulance and Gardaí remain at the scene.
There are no reports of any serious injuries.
The road remains open, but Gardaí are directing traffic.
Motorists are urged to slow down on approach and drive with extreme care.
Traffic is expected to return to normal within the next hour.
